New Board Member Greg Male
The VMSA is excited to introduce Greg Male as the newest member of our board! Greg brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our team, and we are confident that his contributions will help us continue to grow our shedding community.
Born in Jordanville in the late 1950’s he has lived in the City of Monash for over 60 years, Greg has carved out an impressive career in the Finance Sector, Community Services and Local Government.
His growing list of accomplishments and experience includes;
- President at the Monash Men’s Shed, an organisation that he assisted in creating in 2008 in partnership with the Lions and Rotary clubs of Monash. Up until 2016 Greg was the Patron of the shed and has been the Shed’s President since 2017. Through this work, he is fast becoming known as a leading advocate for Men’s Health in Victoria.
- Councillor Development Officer for the Victorian Local Government Association before joining the Monash Men’s shed.
- Elected as Councillor for the Glen Waverley Ward for Monash Council in 2008. Then endorsed by his peers when elected as Mayor of the City in 2011. A key achievement, as well as the establishment of the Monash Men’s shed, was the declaration of the Glen Waverley precinct alcohol-free (outside designated areas) in partnership with the Victorian Police.
- An approved Lobbyist with the Australian Government providing pro-bono services to the Not-for-Profit sector. A role he has undertaken since 2013.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Community Development, Disability Services and Training and Assessment.
- Honorary Justice for the State of Victoria, appointed in 2003
- Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management
- Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
- Member of the Australian Institute of Credit Management.
- A tireless and influential community leader he commenced volunteering in his community in 1970.
- Past Chairman of Wavlink Inc, a community learning centre for adults with a disability, for five years.
- Holding numerous Community Directorships over the years and is regularly sought for his input into community development matters in Monash and beyond.
- Chairman of the ONE in 5000 Foundation a Health Promotions Charity since 2017.
- Appointed to the Victorian Government Precinct Reference Group for the Suburban Rail Loop Authority in 2021.
