St Leonards Men’s Shed Celebrates 10 Years

On June 5th, members, partners, and official guests gathered at the Lonsdale Links Golf Club to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the St Leonards Men’s Shed. The event was a testament to the shed’s enduring impact on the community and its members.

The celebration began with a presentation that highlighted the shed’s history, revealing that it has been in operation in one form or another since 2006. Notably, it was one of the first sheds to receive a $50,000 grant from the Department of Human Services, marking a significant milestone in its journey.

Special guests, including local MP Alison Marchant, Bellarine Councillor Jim Mason, and VMSA GM Jim Kane, gave supportive talks, praising the shed’s contributions to the community. Their speeches underscored the vital role the shed plays in fostering social connections, skill development, and community spirit.

To cap off the event, one of the founding members, Fred Knox, received a Life Membership award, a fitting tribute to his dedication and service. This recognition was a heartfelt moment, celebrating the contributions of an individual who has been instrumental in the shed’s success.

The day was made even more special with a wonderful lunch, providing an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the shed’s journey and look forward to its future. The celebration was a fantastic day filled with camaraderie, marking a significant milestone for the St Leonards Men’s Shed.
